The Libertalia Foundation

The Libertalia Foundation's main purpose is to explore and offer education in the areas of economic thought and social philosophy. In the near future, we plan to organize lectures, workshops and debates involving well-respected professors, authors, etc. within these fields of expertise, as well as encouraging and assisting others to organize such events on our premises.

The initial project of The Libertalia Foundation is what we call "Mises West". Mises West is dedicated to spreading the principles of free-market economics, voluntaryism, and classical liberalism (aka libertarianism). It includes a library and bookstore on the premises of Cafe Libertalia at 3834 5th Avenue in Hillcrest, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor.  Our signature event under the banner of Mises West is our Monday Mises discussion/study group, meeting at 7pm every week. Please see the Mises West tab above for more detailed information.

Another project currently underway is a weekly workshop series relating to Nonviolent Communication, as developed and taught by Marshall Rosenberg. We'll be expanding this area very soon, and also will be offering workshops/classes in the area of Critical Thinking.

Currently in the developmental stages, the Summum Bonum Learning Center, is something we at the Libertalia Foundation are all very excited about. The center will be child-directed "unschooling" facility, with a target opening date of September 2013. Please take a look at the tab above dedicated to this project to find out more and to see if you might want to participate in some way.

We enthusiastically welcome others to contact us regarding possible events and projects they might want to create under the umbrella of The Libertalia Foundation. We consider an important aspect of the Foundation to be our sincere intention to facilitate the free exchange of ideas, and encourage anyone interested in engaging in the areas of economics and societal philosophies to offer proposals.
